Born: June 26, 1964 - Deceased: February 16, 2022
Lynne T. Schwartzhoff, nee Guido, 57, of Belleville, IL, born Friday, June 26, 1964, in Port Jefferson, NY, died Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Memorial Hospital East in Shiloh, IL.
Lynne was an English Professor at SWIC in Belleville. Previously, she taught as an adjunct and created the student Success Center at the Granite City Campus. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Belleville. While attending Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina, she worked to bring outdoor recreation programs to handicapped children, volunteered at Bethany Place assisting HIV patients during the AIDS crisis, worked in hospice bringing comfort to the sick and dying, and most recently volunteered to help the homeless in various shelters in the St. Louis area.
During her free time, Lynne loved spending time with her children, swimming, and enjoying the outdoors. She especially loved the ocean and walking on beaches. She also enjoyed kayaking, hiking, gardening, playing several instruments, reading, and writing, including songwriting. She was a progressive activist and served as a delegate and volunteer for Bernie Sanders during the 2016 Democratic primary.
Lynne was a model for selflessness, love, and compassion towards all people. As a teacher, she cared as much for her students’ education inside the classroom as their well-being outside the classroom.
