Joanne M. Scheerer

Joanne M Scheerer, 74, of Belleville, IL, was born Monday, October 24, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Memorial Care Center in Belleville, Illinois.

Upon graduation from St. Edmund Catholic High School In New York, Joanne entered the U.S. Air Force service 6 years. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service from 1976 to 1981. After joining St. Henry Catholic Church in 1982, she worked as the Parish Secretary until her retirement in 2015. Joanne served on the Parish Council, was a member of the Ladies Club, Fish Fry Program, Bingo caller, choir member, and served on the Liturgy and Education committees.

Joanne enjoyed golfing, fishing, singing, yard work, and working with people.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to St. Henry Church; St. Henry/St. Vincent de Paul Society; Catholic Urban Programs; or donor’s choice.

Visitation: Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Henry Church, 5315 W. Main Street, Belleville, IL on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Henry’s Church with Rev. Ken York officiating. Private interment at Jefferson Barracks Cemetary.
