Jean Marie Johnson, nee Eugan, 94, of Beverly, KY, born Thursday, January 3, 1929, in East Saint Louis, IL, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023.
Jean worked as a clerk for AT & T. She was a member of St. Matthew Church in Belleville, IL, and a member of Rebekah Circle, past president of United Methodist Women Organization, numerous Bridge clubs, and was an avid knitter and reader.
She was preceded in death by her:
- Daughter: Caren Campbell
- Infant son: Patrick Shoff
- Parents: Anthony and Edna, nee Hennerichs, Eugan
- Ex-husband: Charles Shoff.
Surviving are her:
- Daughter: Susan (Kevin) Wacholtz of Beverly, KY
- Grandchildren:
- Allison (Andy) Gerlach of Steeleville, IL
- Summer Campbell of New Athens, IL
- Amye (Nayland) O’Neal
- Marina (Matt) Wacholtz
- Bridget Wacholtz
- Patrick Wacholtz
- Great-grandchildren:
- Chloe and Drew Gerlach of Steeleville, IL.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation: Visitation from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, IL.
Funeral: Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Kurrus Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Swickard officiating. Interment will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville, IL.

I have known Jean all my life – she was one of the “church ladies” I grew up with! She was very kind-hearted and loved to engage in conversation, and she was truly interested in what you had to say. I have a few of her wonderful recipes, which I have always cherished. Susan, your mom was so special and she will be missed greatly – thinking of you and your family at this difficult time.
