Realizing your family and friends offer the greatest consolation following the death of a loved one; we nevertheless, want you to know that we also share in your loss. Therefore, Mr. Kurrus established our Continuing Program as an open ended ministry, to assist you and your family in any way possible with answers to questions and concerns; grief care materials; suggestions, ideas and arrangements for monuments and markers; and information on funeral pre-arrangements.
The weeks and months following a death are an excruciating time of pain and sorrow for most of us, and the pain of grief does not end until two-five years have passed. Yet, we normally encounter the death of a loved one only a few times in our lives. Consequently, when death does strike, we find ourselves poorly prepared to face the devastation that accompanies this period of transition.
Our Continuing Care ministry provides immediate family and friends with grief care materials from a variety of sources. We publicize meeting times of local grief support groups and web sites for grief-oriented issues; we send specialized grief care notes to family and friends during the two years following the death; and we also maintain a small, but growing library of books, video and audio tapes, and brochures that focus on specific aspects of death and dying, and the grief that accompanies them. Finally, our Director of Continuing Care Services is available to visit with the bereaved in the privacy of their own homes. Sometimes an attentive listener is more valuable than a thousand words of encouragement.
