Susan C. Ulrich, nee Plant, 88, of Belleville, IL, born Friday, June 29, 1934, in East St. Louis, IL, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.
Susan was born at home in East St. Louis and went on to attend East St. Louis Senior High. She married Donald in 1952. After Donald joined the U.S. Navy, Susan and her daughter Donna moved to Rhode Island, where Donald was stationed.
The family later returned to Belleville where Susan oversaw the day-to-day family obligations of having six children, serving as den mother to her four sons’ Cub and Boy Scout groups. She also was a member of St. Henry’s, Althoff and Notre Dame mothers’ clubs. She was part of SHAG and helped with St. Henry’s fish fry’s.
Susan and Donald built their own home on West Washington Street in Belleville in 1967 and lived there for more than 20 years. She and Donald bowled together many years on Friday nights at Plaza Bowl. They loved dancing together and being with friends. Susan was the accountant for Donald’s business – Ulrich Construction Co. She later worked full-time at Shop ‘N’ Save. In retirement, she helped make baskets filled with goodies for the St. Peregrine Society that were sold at charitable auctions.

- Christopher A. Ulrich (Lori) of Cocoa Beach, FL
- 10 grandchildren
- numerous great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins
Visitation: Visitation from 4:00- 8:00 pm, Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, IL.
Funeral: Funeral procession will leave at 9:45 am from Kurrus Funeral Home for a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, June 16, 2023 at St. Henry Catholic Church in Belleville, IL with Rev. Kenneth York officiating Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Belleville, IL.
