Rebecca Anna Gherardini, nee Veltman, 93, of Belleville, IL, born Sunday, October 26, 1930, in Centralia, IL, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at St. Paul’s Home in Belleville, IL.
Dwight and Rebecca co-owned and operated Gherardini’s Tavern in Wamac for 45 years and retired in 1995. After which they traveled around the country and enjoyed retirement life.
She was preceded in death by her:

- Son, Douglas Dwain Gherardini
- Parents, Harry and Clara, nee Dillinger, Veltman
- Brother-in-law, Louie Byars

She was a good friend to my mother at Holly Brook, and we are very sorry for your loss.
I was sorry to learn of my aunt Becky’s passing and extend sincerest sympathy to Steve, Anthony and all of the grandchildren. I have fond memories of the “old days” at the tavern and when Dwight and Becky married. Aunt Becky rest in peace.
