Anne passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Thursday, August 1, 2024.
Marianne “Anne” Hannigan was born June 18, 1963 in East St. Louis, IL. She attended Queen of Peace, and Althoff Catholic High School in Belleville. In her youth, Anne played tennis and swam often at Dorchester Swim and Tennis club. She was a voracious reader, enjoyed classic cinema, plays at the Muny, concerts by the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra and classical radio. She was an accomplished pianist, and had an uncanny ability to learn languages; she was fluent in German and Spanish, and could read and understand Italian and Arabic. She enjoyed her mother’s garden, her pets and had a deep faith in God.
Anne attended University of Illinois at Champaign and earned a BS in Accountancy. At St Louis University Anne earned a master’s degree in finance. She studied in Vienna and worked for the German middle counts in Hamburg. She got her law degree from University of Illinois (JD, cum laude, Law Review). Anne was a member of the Illinois and Missouri Bar and practiced law in and enjoyed living in Chicago for many years.

A special thanks to the staff at Lebanon Care Center and Vitas Hospice.
There will be a service at the chapel at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Belleville on Monday, August 5th at 10:00 am with Father Paul Wienhoff officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Corpus Christi Church, 205 Rasp Street, O’Fallon, IL 62269.

My deepest condolences to the Hannigan family. Anne was a favorite of my Mom’s and they talked often. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers. So sorry I didn’t see her obituary in time to extend my sympathies personally.
