Joan C. Sackmann, nee Williams, 88, of Belleville, IL, born Thursday, August 25, 1932, in East Saint Louis, IL, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Mercy Rehabilitation Center in Swansea, IL.
Joan was educated through the East St. Louis school system, graduating from East St. Louis Senior High School Class of 1950. She continued her schooling at Summers College of Commerce. Joan worked 15 years in the office of Dr. F.S. Titchenal as a Dental Assistant. After a short break in her career, she went to work for the Social Security Administration for 20 years, retiring in 1993. Joan was a member of St. Paul U.C.C.serving as usher and on many committees. She was a member of Job’s Daughters Bethel 20, Queen City Chapter 697 O.E.S., NARFE and AARP. She also performed volunteer work at St. Paul U.C.C. and PSOP.
She was preceded in death by her:
- Husband: Charles L. Sackmann, who passed in 1994
- Parents: George and Helen, nee Reiff, Williams
- Sister: Gloria Nixon

Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 1pm with Associate Pastor Craig Bielke officiating. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.

Joan was a beautiful person inside and out. I always remember her from Dr Titchenal’s office. My grandma Martha married her uncle Carl Williams. Her parents George and Helen Williams would visit often when we lived on 82nd Street. May she Rest In Peace
