Helen Richter, 100, of Glen Carbon, IL, born Thursday, July 19, 1923, in Lebanon, IL, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024 at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon, IL.
After graduating from Miss Hickey’s School for Secretaries, Helen worked for Phillips Petroleum and Pipeline, the Terminal Railroad in Union Station, for Wilbur Schwarz’s private law firm, and Monsanto. Finishing her working career, she worked at Union Electric until her retirement in 1986.
During her lifetime, she’s enjoyed traveling with her friends, her sister and her brother. She loved to read and enjoyed painting.
She was a wonderful, selfless person devoted to helping those around her as the need arose with both family and friends. She volunteered at Beacon in Belleville, helped transport people to appointments through a Faith caring group in Lebanon. She also volunteered to sit with terminally ill patients at St. Paul’s Home. In her earlier years, she even taught Bible lessons at a prison.
She was an active member of Crossroads Christian Church in Caseyville, IL, until her health prevented her from attending.

Visitation: Visitation from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, IL.
Funeral: Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Kurrus Funeral Home, with Pastor Tom Schofield officiating. Interment will follow at College Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, IL.
