Donald. D. McAlister Sr. of Belleville, IL, age 89 formerly of Granite City, IL, passed away Monday, December 26, 2022 at Memorial East hospital in Shiloh, IL, after a fall at home.
He was a US Navy Veteran, and attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He retired from Ralston Purina Company/Continental Baking Company in 1995 after 32 years of service. After retirement as a purchasing agent, he volunteered at Barnes-Jewish Hospital for 16 years. He was always a willing participant, assuming both a volunteer and leadership role, with his church, school, scouting, and company events. He loved making people laugh with his long-winded stories and jokes, and enjoyed western books and movies.
Above all, he was a wonderful son, husband of 66 years, father, grandfather and friend to many.

He is survived by his:

- Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, and many friends
