When you think of the most kind-hearted person ever, you think of Alice Halgas. My dear sister-in-law who always had words of wisdom or something funny and silly to say. Always comfortable with Alice. So great with her husband and children. So gentle with her many animals. So Alice-heres to life well lived. Heres to Busch beer in brown glass bottles, lasagna, and much strawberry shortcakes. Heres to many beach days1 Heres to love and laughter and so much more. I love you. Forever in my heart. I’ll walk with you in the land of no pain and no tears. Love ya, dear Alice E. Halgas
Great woman, very funny. She will be missed.
Where do I begin? I first met Alice when Mark went to work for DEC and they had moved to Virginia Beach. My then husband, Bill (affectionately known as “Bubba”) and I had a Halloween party at our house. Mark showED up as a pretty good looking, curvaceous nurse while Alice was Raggedy Ann. Our friendship was instant and from then on you rarely saw one couple without seeing the other. Or, Alice and Ruthie; Mark and Bubba. Our children blended and we became family. I have too many shared memories to even begin to share. We eventually made separate moves to different states but our friendship remained even though we went long periods of time apart. I will forever miss my buddy who I affectionately refer to as “Algas”… see you on the other side dear friend. Be ready to party when I get there. Love you, Ruthie
Cut from a different cloth she was…A very rare breed..Love ya Alice..

Am so saddened to hear of my friend Alice passing. Not just a neighbor but a true friend. I will forever remember our Tuesday night dinners. Thanks for opening your home and heart to me.
Alice was a “ Bright “ spot in anywhere she entered, east coast tenacity…. With worthy humor…. She will**** be very missed…. Blessed Be dear Sista
I worked with Alice for many years at the US Army Corps of Engineers office in Norfolk, Virginia. As was stated in her obituary, Alice used her intelligence, wit, and patriotism dedicating 33 years of civilian service to the United States government. I’d like to amplify what was said and that is Alice was a friend and I never heard her complain or have a cross word to or about anyone on our team. You see, Alice had a spirit of cooperation, she was not about the “me in life” but more about the “life in me”. Well done good and faithful servant. You will be missed by a great many of us.
May the Lord hold you and keep you close. Love You Alice, so sad to see this. You were a great friend and co-worker. I will always remember how you stuck up for me at work when we use to get mandatory overtime at last minute notice before a weekend. You always made me laugh and fell a part of your family with Barbara and Stephanie and then you married Mark and had Erica and the twins. You came to visit me even when I moved out of town. I’ll always remember the good times with you and your family. Hope to see you in Heaven someday. Sending love to you all!
