William Thomas “Bill” Donovan, 75, of Swansea, Illinois, was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and passed away after a brief battle with cancer on June 16, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his:

- Toni, nee Visintine, Donovan
- Son:
- Brian and his wife Lisa Donovan of Columbia, Illinois
- Grandchildren:
- Katie
- Sam
- Ethan
- Natalie.
- Sisters-in-law:
- Janet Visintine of Swansea, Illinois
- Patricia Visintine of Swansea, Illinois
After graduating from Assumption High School in 1965, Bill continued his education at SIU-E.
He was an Engineering Technician for the Illinois Department of Transportation. After retiring from IDOT, he worked as a consultant for TWM in Swansea, Illinois.
Visitation: Visitation from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Illinois and from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2023 at St. Henry Catholic Church in Belleville, Illinois.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. June 22, 2023 at St. Henry Catholic Church, with Father Kenneth York officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Henry Catholic Church, Annie’s Hope – The Center for Grieving Kids http://annieshope.org/, or donor’s choice.

I worked with Bill at IDOT and appreciated his knowledge and skills. His wit and humor was very enjoyable. I am sorry for your loss and I remember the joy and pride he frequently expressed regarding his family.

Toni and Family, Barb and I are truly sorry for your loss. I would often run into Bill at Belleville festivities, and we always shared a few words reminiscing on the old days. He had real style!!
