Born: October 6, 1944 - Deceased: 20220813
Beverly Evelyn Hoekstra, nee Bachli, 77, of Belleville, IL, born Friday, October 6, 1944, in Chicago, IL, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, MO.
Beverly was a 1962 graduate of Fenger Academy High School in the Roseland neighborhood on the South side of Chicago. After raising her sons, she began her career in 1981 working for the government in the Department of Defense as an accountant/data processor in the DFAS Agency. Once she obtained her 25th year of service, she retired in 2006 to spend more time with her family and friends.
Beverly was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her loving and enduring marriage of 56 years to Bob was an example to her sons to love unconditionally, compromise, be supportive during good and bad times, and to laugh every-day. She was always up for a good time, especially game nights with her family and friends (unless Monopoly was on the agenda, which she determined to be too cutthroat to be fun). She loved ALL things Vegas! At the casino, you could find her at the “Deuces Wild” poker machines having a ball for hours! Winning wasn’t necessary, to her, it was more about the experience and logging what she called “MACHINE TIME”, and inevitably when Bob would run out of money because he enjoyed playing higher stakes machines, Bev without hesitation, would always reach into her purse and give him some more of her funds. A great lesson we will carry with us about sharing, living life to the fullest, and enjoying every moment you have!
