Dottie had the heart of a saint and would do anything for anyone. She was born the baby of her family, 10 years after her sister, Carol. When her mother asked her father if he wanted a boy or girl, he stated that he wanted a little girl that was just like her mother – and he got her! So much so, that her family fondly called her “Little Caroline”. Dottie met the first love of her life at just 18 years old and they married soon thereafter. She was blessed with three amazing, red-headed children that she adored. When her husband passed away suddenly, Dottie went to work at Belleville Memorial Hospital where she did many odd jobs in the administration department for 35 years. In that time, she met the second love of her life, Andrew Newton, and they built a life together by combining their families and showing them all what true love looks like. She and Andrew were together for 35 years and shared some of their best memories together. Dottie loved being around family. She raised her three children, and then began enjoying all 8 of her grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. When her first grandchild was born, she became “Nana” and was the epitome of what a wonderful Nana could be – laughing all the time and loving no matter what. When she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014, she vowed to fight hard and not let it win. She chose to keep fighting so that she could spend more time with her family. She had many good years since her diagnosis and rarely let it get her down. Even in her last days, she held a smile on her face, surrounded by her family, and made the most of every moment. She was determined to show her family how strength can carry you through. Her legacy will live on, and her wisdom and lessons will be referred to and reflected on as a reminder that courage and love are powerful tools to get you through anything with dignity and grace. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know her.

I loved my Aunt Dottie so much and will miss her terribly. I have so many memories growing up, spending time with her and my cousins during the summer. As an adult she made me smile and laugh all the time. She was the spitting image of my Mom and together the two were hysterical, throw in the third sister and the laughter never stopped. I am so happy she is out of pain and able to see my Mom and start the laughing again, but she will be missed by her family! ❤️
My deepest sympathy to the family. Dottie was my co worker at Memorial and always brought a smile to my face. Dottie loved her family and often shared fun times. One of my favorites was her telling about the dogs walking on the treadmill. Dottie and Andi had many years together and I am sure he will miss her as well as all of you children and grand children.
Dottie K was a wonderful person. She was always fun to be around! Yes Barbie, Dottie and Clara are laughing again!
Treasure your memories.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family. It’s been many years since I’ve had the pleasure of Dotties company but we shared many good times in our youth that I always hold dear to my heart,
Much Love,
Paula ( Nichols)Lobnitz
Dottie was a wonderful person, and a great companion for my Uncle Andy. We shared many vacations together with my mom Ruth, and Aunt Imy & Uncle Jim. Austin & San Antonio Texas, Disney World Florida, Williamsburg Virginia, every trip was a memorable time spent with your aunt, mother, grandmother. She always fun to be with, always eager to try a new adventure. I am truely sorry for your loss. I know it has been said many times, and you will hear it many more, time will heal your pain. It does get better, and in time you will be able to think of her without a tear, think of all the wonderful times you spent with her, and how she is always with you, even now.
Dottie was such a great lady. I was lucky to work with her at Memorial. She was always so happy and positive. You couldn’t help but smile when you were around her. My sympathies to her family.
Kim,
