Mrs. Matyas was not only my PE teacher at OTHS (1975-79), but also was my mother’s PE teacher at Dupo High (1955-59). Small world!
She was a very tough teacher, challenging us to go above and beyond our comfort zone and abilities in our PE classes, but also kind and encouraging every day.
Thankful to God for the way she touched my life.
I used to tease Mrs. Matyas after graduating for making me write book reports during PE time. I had been injured so she made me write reports since I couldn’t participate in PE. She was a good friend and a great Christian lady. I enjoyed getting to know her as more than a teacher. She will be missed.
