Kermit A. Doelling, age 79, of Maryville IL, formerly of Johannisburg, IL, departed this life on June 27th, 2024 at Memorial East Hospital in Shiloh, IL. Born in St. Louis, MO on July 11th, 1944, the son of George F. & Viola E. (nee Steinkamp) Doelling, he was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Johannisburg, IL. He was united in marriage to Barbara J. (nee Morgan) on April 11th, 1970 at St. John’s UCC.
He was a 1962 graduate of Okawville Community High School and graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1966 where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. A lifelong member of St. John’s UCC, he held various offices on the Church Council over the years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was a member of the Venedy Sportsmen’s Club and the Elkhorn Hunting & Fishing Club, and enjoyed spending time on the lake at their second home on Lake Cumberland in Jamestown, KY. He retired in 2012 after 46 years with McDonnell Engineering & Automation, McDonnell Douglas Automation, & the Boeing Company Automation Division.

Kermit’s wishes were to be cremated.
Visitation will be held at St. John’s UCC in Johannisburg, IL from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on July 9th, 2024. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Bill Groennert officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Siteman Cancer Center in Shiloh, IL. In addition, all that are willing are asked to donate blood to the Red Cross in Kermit’s memory.
