I had the opportunity driving from Galesburg, IL., where we were working on a sick 1522 Locomotive, to Howard’s home. I will always fondly remember being to go one-on-one with him that day. What a brilliant, interesting funny man who knew a lot about everything. If I ever grow up, I’d like to be more like him.
Rest in Peace, my friend.
Howard was a very valuable asset to our St. Louis Steam Train Association. He was a terrific problem solver and could be counted on to fix a problem or do a project right the first time.
He was fun and great to work with and had a wicked sense of humor.
He will also be sorely missed in our monthly lunch group.
In short, Howard was one of the Truly Good Guys.
You are really soaring with the Eagles now! Eagles do stick together!
i guess we will have to make one of us turkeys a promotion to eagle now that you have taken off!
Hey, remember, one thing at a time.
See yeah next time,
call me sometime, after 9:30 though.
