William P. Lesko M.D., 92, of Belleville, IL, born Thursday, January 30, 1930, in Carlinville, IL, died Sunday, May 1, 2022 at de Greeff Hospice House, St. Louis, MO.
William worked as a Family Physician for 40 years in Nashville and Belleville, IL. He was a member of the American Medical Assoc. (AMA), St. Clair Co. Medical Society, American Assoc. of Family Physicians (AAFP), St. Henry’s Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, and a United States Army Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his:

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Belleville Area Humane Society or Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
Visitation: Visitation from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Illinois.
Funeral: A Funeral procession will leave at 9:45 am from Kurrus Funeral Home for a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 6, 2022 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, Belleville, IL with Rev. Kenneth York officiating Interment will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.

Steve and Janet, Bryan and I are so sorry for your loss. It is so difficult to lose a parent but even harder to watch them struggle. Our hearts and prayers are with your family during this time. Take pleasure in all the amazing memories together.

Dr. Lesko was a very kind person and a wonderful doctor. He was truly our family physician. I had the privilege of being the first patient he performed an appendectomy on. He always teased me that I talked the whole time while under anesthesia about my upcoming 19th birthday party and what I planned to do to celebrate it. He never let me forget it. My sympathy to his family. He was one of a kind and will be sorely missed.

William Lesko’s parents lived near my parent’s small grocery store in Carlinville. When William learned I was enrolling in the University of Illinois in engineering in 1957, he gave me the mechanical drafting set that he had used in his engineering classes at Illinois since he had entered medicine after his engineering degree. He also advised that I live at Newman Hall, where he had lived. I’ve never forgotten his kindness to me with his advice and his gift, which I used in college and graduate school.
