Walter R. Beatty, 88, of Belleville, IL, born Friday, December 14, 1934, in Belleville, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at his residence in Belleville, IL.
Walter worked throughout his career and retired from the Defense Mapping Agency (NGA) in St Louis Mo. Walter also was a farmer and co-owner of the Rhein and Beatty Farm near Smithton Ill. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Belleville, IL, Past Master of St. Clair Lodge #24 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies and Ainad Shrine. Wally enjoyed winters in Arizona and summers at his Minnesota lake house.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children’s or St. Paul UCC Belleville,, IL.
Visitation: Visitation from 11:00 am – 1:00pm on Tuesday January 17, 2023 at Kurrus Funeral Home.
Funeral: Masonic service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Kurrus Funeral Home with Private Entombment at Valhalla Gardens of Memory Mausoleum in Belleville, IL.

“Wally” was a wonderful kindhearted man, he was part of out Minnesota family, always willing to help. He will be missed greatly.

Wally was the best. He was like family to me and he was always there when I needed him. At the lake, he would always help me take my fish off the hook and taught me so much. He helped me name the first northern I ever caught, “northie”, and he just smiled and laughed. I would always see him outside working in the garden and would yell “Hiii Wally!!!” then run over and give him the biggest hug. He would watch me ride my bike up and down the road 100 times, and would always sit and hang out with me. He will be truly missed, he always made me feel so special and was an amazing man. Love you always, Wally.

Walley watched me grow up as a young boy in Minnesota. During those times he was much like a grandfather to myself and siblings. He taught me how to fillet fish and was always ready to help anyone whom needed it. He also got to watch my children grow. He was very loved and will be missed dearly.
