Vicky Lyn Smolik November 2, 1956 – January 9, 2024

Vicky Lyn Smolik 67 of Belleville, IL, born Friday, November 2, 1956 in St. Louis, Mo.

Vicky worked as President of the Musicians Association of St. Louis Local 2-197 AFM.

Vicky played Trumpet for the MUNY for 45 years as well as at the Fabulous Fox and in her own groups The Second Nature Theater Musicians Orchestra and Metropolitan Brass.

Vicky taught band at St. Augustine, Queen of Peace, St. Mary’s and St. Clare School as well as teaching many private trumpet and trombone students. She also taught at Southwestern Illinois College with the late Jerry Bolen and A. Dennis Sparger.

She spent time with her best friends and colleagues, among them Mark Hasenstab, Steve Hoover, Mike Buerk, Greg Riddle and Sally Kendall nee Kirchhoff and many others.

She also enjoyed spending time with her parents, cousins, and lifelong best friend,

Jenny Nicolay.

Women’s History Month Honoring Vicky Smolik

A Women’s History Month Concert Honoring Vicky Smolik will be held on March 11, 2024 at 6:00 pm at Peace Lutheran Church in St. Louis, MO. 737 Barracksview Rd. St. Louis, MO.

Vicky was an impressive musician in the St. Louis Metropolitan area sharing her talents with many students, fans of second Nature, the Fabulous Fox, and the Muny. She was a blessing to her family and friends. Soar high on your Angel Wings, dear cousin! With much love and appreciation for your life!

Family of Vicky Smolik,you have my sympathy on your loss of Vicky. She was always a very kind person and teacher at St. Augustine Parish. I’m sorry for this late notice; I was just advised of her passing today.
