Robert S. Rainbolt, 95, of Fairview Heights, IL, born Tuesday, May 12, 1925, in Marion, IL, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Cedar Ridge Healthcare in Lebanon, IL.

Robert worked as a self employed Carpenter and was a 75 year member of Carpenter’s Union in East Saint Louis IL. Bob was born into a musical family and he passed that love and ability onto his children and their children. He was a voracious reader. He had eclectic taste, but mostly enjoyed history and his Bible was always nearby. He loved genealogy and enjoyed exploring the roots of his family. He made contacts all over the United States and into Europe looking for clues.

Services: Funeral services will be private at Kurrus Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Patton officiating. Interment at St. Clair Memorial Park Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL.

My mother Etta May was in the room directly across from Robert – when she was at Cedar Ridge. Robert always had a cute smile on his face. He never turned down any type of candy, cookies, or donuts – and we always shared with him – I also was blessed to hear him sing many times -he could truly carry a tune – no musical instruments needed. My sincere condolences to his family. God ‘s blessing during this difficult time.

Uncle Bob was a hard worker and good man with a lovely tenor voice. He helped to build two of the houses that Harold Piety and I and our girls lived in, and I think he may have helped build my childhood home in Collinsville, although he was a young teenager at the time. Sending love and condolences to all the family–especially my cousins Linda, Carol, and Steven, and my remaining uncle, Harry Rainbolt. I will never forget your kindness in hosting a dinner for my family when my mother died, Linda. I wish I could do the same for you, but I’m stuck sheltering at home in Oklahoma. Know that I am with you in spirit.

Thank you so much for your kind words. Yes, he liked his sweets. We will miss his singing but that love of music was passed on to and through his children and great grandchildren.

Hi Patricia. Dad loved to build houses. It was so hard for him when he no longer had the ability. Hope you and your family are doing well.

Thank you Pat for your kind words. Yes, Daddy was a hard worker. It was so hard for him to understand that his body would no longer allow him to do the things that he used to do. We understand why you could not come. We are living in a difficult time.
