Patrick A. Phillips, 69, of Smithton, IL, born Thursday, January 28, 1954, in St. Louis, Mo passed away Friday, August 4, 2023 at his residence in Smithton, IL.

Patrick was a Salesperson for the food and automotive industry. He attended The Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, IL.
Patrick had a love for life, family and friends like no other. As he always had a concern for everyone and how their life was doing. His favorite hours were spent with family doing anything especially talking.

His laughter was contagious as well as his smile. He experienced all the perfect sunrises and sunsets from our deck. He found such freedom with sailing that was endless whether he was at the helm or watching from the shore. He worked hard with long hours and traveling and said he would just keep doing. The hours of watching sports, documentaries and action films with anyone that wanted to join fulfilled him especially his four legged buddy.

The love of cycling and motorcycles never left him as he started at a young age and would come and go thoughout his life. His closeness with old friends was awesome as were the many stories and adventures.

Pat Phillips was the only regular daily father figure I had in my life (aside from my grandpa and uncle/godfather) and I loved him as such. Katie and I grew up together starting at age 2 and lived less than half a block away from each other so we were always at each others houses until past high school. I still wonder how he suffered through all of mine and Katie’s little Disney movie “concerts” that we’d put on (especially the lion king songs lol). He would always help look after me, even when him and Rose didn’t have to and I’ve always loved him (and Rose too) so much for that roll he played in my life because I never knew what it was like to have a dad, he helped me not feel like I was missing out because he was there.. Katie and I remain friends to this day but I didn’t keep in touch with Pat and Rose as much as I should have or like I really wish I would have because they were both my bonus parents throughout my entire adolescence. He was always a force if you ticked him off and he was also a teddy bear when he was content or happy. I don’t really have any bad memories of him in my life. I’ll forever miss you Pat, you were exactly like the father I never had and you were one of the reasons why I never felt that bad about not ever having a father in my life, it was because I had Pat, my Uncle and my Grandpa in my life. So thank you for your hand in raising me Pat, I’ll never forget you and you will forever be loved and missed in my heart and in the hearts of the family I grew up being made to feel apart of.

Rose, Matt & Katie,
I am very sorry for your loss. As neighbors for 35 years, your family has been great to know. Pat loved to talk out in the yard and he always expressed his love for all of you.
