Born: September 19, 1949 - Deceased: 20231227
Mollie Jacqueline Meldrum “Jackie”, nee Forshee, 74, of Glen Carbon, IL, born Sunday, September 18, 1949, in St. Louis, MO, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon, IL.
Mollie was a Customer Service Representative in the banking business for several years starting at Magna Bank in Belleville, IL and then at FCB in Smithton, IL. In the earlier years she earned her CNA Certificate from Belleville Area College. She also cleaned Bonanza Restaurant and decorated cakes while living in Red Bud, IL raising her family with her first husband, Terry Meldrum. She later was very successful with Mary Kay Cosmetics and was a personal assistant to John Fredman in Ladue, MO.
She lived in Smithon, IL then and was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of her tongue in 2002. After treatment, she was in remission for 20 years. During this time she endured multiple other health battles. We said she was like the cats she loved so much, and had nine lives! She fought every battle the best she could and made the best out of every outcome.
Mollie was devout believer in the Lord and Jesus as her savior, and a member of Meadow Heights Southern Baptist Church in Collinsville, IL upon her move to that area in 2015. Prior to that, she was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ in Hecker, IL. This is where she and her long time partner, Art Schoen, were active members and had many friends and fond memories.
After losing Art in 2013, then her daughter, Christine in 2014, she moved from the Smithton, IL area to Collinsville, IL. There she quickly made friends at Woodland Towers before moving to Cambridge House of Maryville, IL, and then to Meridian Village in Glen Carbon, IL.
She touched the lives of everyone she met and never knew a stranger. Her innate ability to make people smile in some fashion, mirrored her own fashion sense of sparkle and glamour. Her most favorite, Betty Boop, will always epitomize Mollie. The only thing she loved more than Betty Boop, were her beloved cats. She owned so many through the years, but her last pair were Calicos, Calli and Penny. They provided her companionship and comfort for years.
Mollie loved without judgement and gave her heart to soul to everyone. We were all not lucky, but blessed to have had such a short time with her. She now rests in peace.

Dear Oliver Family,
I am so sorry to hear the passing of your mom/grandmother. She sounds like a remarkable woman. In fact, I know she is by having a sweet daughter, like Kathy, and three wonderful grandchildren, like Lilly, Shelby, and David. I have you all in my thoughts and prayers.
