Michael F. Luhning, 78, of Belleville, IL, born Monday, November 1, 1943, in East St. Louis, IL, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Memorial Hospital East in Shiloh, IL.

Mike worked as a computer programmer from the beginning of the computer age until retirement for some of the top St. Louis based companies. He was a computer programming teacher for Maryville University; a computer programming teacher and member of the Curriculum Board for Southwestern Illinois College; past president of the Jaycees; a member of Sea Scouts as a youngster; and a member of the high school reunion committee of Belleville Township. Mike was an artist, incredibly well read, loved learning, science fiction enthusiast and enjoyed classical music. He was a true gentleman who was forever kind, generous, and selfless. Mike was very intelligent and witty with a great sense of humor. He always loved to throw in a good pun. For 58 wonderful years, Mike was the best husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather our family could ever wish for!

Funeral: A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 1, 2022, from 4 to 8 pm CDT at Kurrus Funeral Home, 1773 Frank Scott Pkwy W, Belleville, IL 62223. Eulogy from 6 to 7 pm CDT. His service may be viewed starting at 5:50 pm through the Kurrus website live stream link.

Sorry for your loss as we all know Mike was a treasure, steppingstone, husband, father, grandfather,
brother, son and friend to so many. We would like to express our sympathies to Mike’s family and friends.

Just heard of Mike’s passing, having recalled events from Jaycee Hunter Safety n Daisy BB gun competitons in New Hampshire. Many fun times n memories to hold. Blessings to all the family.
