Karen Gene Heitman

Karen Gene Heitman, nee Partington, age 74, of Belleville, IL, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023 at her home. Karen was born Tuesday, June 21, 1949, in Sparta, IL.

She worked as an accountant for the federal government. She was known as “everyone’s mom” during her children’s teenage years and all were welcomed in her home. During her retirement years, she enjoyed walking her dog and saying hello to her neighbors. Her greatest joy was spending time with her four much-loved grandchildren, all of whom she was immensely proud.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Adelle, nee Carlyle, Partington and brother, William Partington.

Surviving are her two sons, James (Angela) Heitman of Parker, CO, Michael (Rachel) Heitman of Belleville, IL, and their children Felix, Ronald, Zoey, and Xander; and Daniel Franzen of Belleville, IL, whom she looked upon like a son.

Funeral: According to her wishes, no services will be held, rather a celebration of her life will be planned at a later date.
