Jon C. Heidt, 73, of Belleville, IL, born Friday, April 25, 1947, in Indianapolis, IN, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 6, 2020 at his residence in Belleville, IL surrounded by his family.
Jon spent three years of school at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale before leaving to work for his dad in Atlanta. He then went on to become a successful businessman and entrepreneur in the Mil-Spec wire and cable industry. As a retirement job, Jon worked as a part-time truck driver for Parish Trucking Firm in Freeburg, IL. He was a beloved father and husband, an avid reader, and a stoic thinker with a dry sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his:
- Parents: Robert E. (Rosemary, nee Reuter) Heidt.
Surviving are his:
- Wife: Carol Heidt, nee Carter, of Belleville, IL,
- Son: Drew (Jennifer) Heidt of St. Petersburg, FL,
- Daughter: Katherine (Dirk) Pepperd of St. Augustine, FL,
- Grandchildren:
- Dylan Pepperd,
- Courtney Pepperd,
- Ashlyn Heidt,
- Tyler Heidt,
- Sisters:
- Michelle Eigen of Atlanta, GA,
- Susan Alvarez of Rochester, NY,
Memorials: Memorials may be made to the ASPC or Shriners Hospital for Children.
Funeral: As per family’s wishes, cremation will be held. Services will be private.

He was a quiet man, thoughtful and every time you told him something he left you with a feeling that he already knew whatever it is your were saying to him….he was always still eager and patient to listen. His words were few and far between, but very carefully chosen, meaningful and deep.
He was an expert tactician and card player…normally calculating and counting probability three or four steps past were most people would bother…by the time you caught up to him, the game was already over.
He cared for his loved ones like no other, there was no limit on the things he would do to protect and defend them. He always created a safe, calm barrier around himself and loved ones regardless of the storms that surrounded.
His humor was unique, very dry and often lost upon others unknowingly. He was okay to amuse only himself if necessary. His humor was always there though and it carried others through difficult times with absolute brilliance even up to his last few days.
He was a complicated yet simple man at he same time. Non-conformist, yet conformist. He mastered duality and anything he put his mind to. I have learned so much from him, yet release there was still much more he was attempting to teaching me. I will continue to remember and learn from him as I will forever love and cherish him.

Jon is married to my closest cousin. He was one of the most awesome persons I have known. Sad to lose him will miss his quick, dry whit. He could tell a joke then wait until a person would ‘get it’ smiling the entire time!! We shared many similar thoughts about this ‘crazy’ current world!! Loved him dearly more than maybe even he knew.

I have had many Highs, and Lows in my Life, and my Dad has always been there, for every single one, with Support and Love! He has a quiet, & calm presence, and a unique sense of Humor. The one and only time in my whole life I ever saw my Dad Cry, was when I Graduated Naval Bootcamp. I know my Dad was so Proud of me, and I was so happy to have him, and my Mother there to see that.
I will miss him very much, and he will forever be in my Heart! I love you Dad!

I worked with Jon during his brief stint as a truck driver. I think maybe 1 year or more I worked with him at K and B Transportation. I am sad to see he is gone, i miss him well ! We were on the phone quite a bit and he was always kind and patient, and funny. Miss him well- hope your family is doing well and honoring his memory..
