Jimmy D. Nelson, 71, of O’Fallon IL, born in Dallas TX, June 14,1948 and passed away on June 4, 2020 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.
Jimmy served in the Navy Submarine service for 4 years. He joined the Air Force; served in hospital administration in Goose Bay, Labrador and Ellsworth AFB, SD. He cross-trained into the computer field and was assigned to Scott AFB, IL, where he met his wife, Rosan. He retired after 20 years service as a Technical Sergeant computer programmer.

- Wife of 39 years: Rosan
- Brother: Stuart Nelson
- Children by previous marriage
- Danielle Austin

- 7 grandchildren
- numerous other family and friends
Services: Funeral procession will leave Kurrus Funeral Home at 10:15 am on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 for 11:00 am service with Military Honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis MO. By Jimmy’s request cremation was held.
Jimmy will be remembered for his humor, great laugh, and loving disposition.

I am so sad to hear of Jimmy’s passing and would like to offer his family my deepest sympathy. I enjoyed seeing him and Rosan and Judy on Thursday nights for many years. His laugh was contagious and he was always smiling. He will be missed dearly.

Rosan, We are so saddened to hear of Jimmy’s passing. He was so very kind, humorous, and witty. He made me smile every time I had the privilege to join the family for dinner and a game or two of zilch. I pray for your recovery, and God’s blessed comfort during this difficult time. To the family and friends who knew and loved him so I mourn with you at his loss and rejoice in the memories he let me collect and keep when we all meet again around that table in his honor.

Rosan, I’m so very sorry to hear that Jimmy is gone. He was a very kind, warm-hearted, humorous, and witty individual. I considered it a privilege to join you andJimmy, as well as your family and friends around that big table to have a meal and play zilch. This pandemic put a crink in that significantly and I missed him as well as everyone else’s company. Rosan please get well and know you are not alone. I hope that we all can join you again to play a couple rounds of zilch in honor and memory of Jimmy soon when you are well again. To everyone I send hugs and prayers at this time. We have wonderful memories of playing cards with Jim, Rosan, Judy and Ruth. We all loved the murder mysteries at Bissell Mansion. Jim had an infectious laugh and he lit up the room. Our deepest sympathies to Rosan and his family.

When I was a child I remember wondering if Jimmy was possibly Santa Claus. His jolly smile, postitive energy that he always had around him and that laugh… Oh that laugh, I will always remember it and smile when I do.
My day was always lifted up every time I got to see you, Jimmy. Rest easy my friend and thank you for the memories and example of how to be a good person. I will eat some fried rice for you soon.
