Janis Schmelter, nee Walker, 76, of Fairview Heights, IL, born Friday, September 14, 1945, in East St. Louis, IL, passed away Friday, July 22, 2022 in Fairview Heights, IL.
Janis worked as an IT Specialist and was with Navistar Financial for over 30 years.
She loved dancing, gardening, bowling, crotchet, sewing and traveling. She elevated others with her infectious laugh and selfless generosity. She had many friends and was deeply loved by all.
She was preceded in death by her:

Services: As per her wishes, cremation rites were held.

Renee, Ricky and family, I worked with Janis at IHCC in Peoria and have kept in touch with her over the years with our group of former employees. I remember her laugh, her “can do” attitude and her friendship. Please accept my sincere sympathies.
