James W. Peterson, 80, of Fairview Heights, IL, born Thursday, December 24, 1942, in Chicago, IL, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023 at his residence in Fairview Heights, IL surrounded by family.
James was a Pipe Fitter for Union #597 in Chicago, IL and also, with the Truck Drivers Union #705 in Chicago, IL.
He was preceded in death by his:

Surviving are his:
- wife of 44 years, Donna, nee Davis, Peterson of Fairview Heights, IL

- Jeremy (Amy) Peterson of Elmhurst, IL
- Nichole Peterson of O Fallon, IL

He requested that his body be donated to Washington University to further medical science.

I have such wonderful memories of Jim, who I know as Poppa P. He is the father of my best friend, Nikki, and I am so grateful to have known him for many years. Poppa P was a sweet, loving, and silly man that was always smiling and laughing! I will forever remember the years I lived with Nikki and her family and we would aggravate Poppa P, and know that he was “just being dad”. May you Rest In Peace, Poppa P. Sending peace, love, and healing to all who knew and loved you.

Oh my, I just this out. Jim was a hell of a nice guy in the years I knew being my brother-in-law for around 20 years
and I am sure he never changed in the years since.
I am so sorry for your loss Donna, you guys were a great long time couple.
