James Michael Underwood, 75, of Fairview Heights, IL, born Thursday, September 20, 1945, in Belleville, IL, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020 at his residence.
Jim was a retired technician for AT&T. He was a life-time member of the NRA and a United States Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his:
- Parents, Kenneth and Anna, nee Kmiecik, Underwood
Surviving are his:
- Daughter, Kristi Rasmussen of Collinsville, IL
- Son, William David (Trisann) Underwood of Fairview Heights, IL
- Companion, Polly Jacobs of Belleville, IL
- Grandchildren:
- Anna Scott
- Cole Underwood
- Tyler Underwood
- Sister, Janet (Mark) Skertich of Staunton, IL
- Nephews, Brad and Scott
Memorials: Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors.

on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 9:45 am with Rev. Rosemary Captain officiating.
Due to Covid-19, all services are private. Interment with military honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

I want to express my condolences to the friends and family of Jim.
I feel the need to share with you my prayer to Jim. Jim, thank you for your military service. It takes a special person to put their life on the line for others freedom!
Thank you for taking Bill and I hunting, especially those very early mornings, and the time when you had a sinus headache not feeling the best. I have a lot of fond memories from hunting squirrels at Turkey Bayou, deer hunting at Bean Ridge, to dove hunting at Washington County Conservation Area and many many more.
I will miss you!
