Gloria Virginia Stumbaugh, nee Banghart, 94, of Belleville, IL, born Sunday, October 9, 1927, in Olney, IL, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.

After graduating from East St. Louis High School and received a BS and MS from Washington University, she worked as a PE teacher for St. Louis Public School District, Flat River School District and Sacred Heart School in Festus.

She was a member of the Signal Hill United Methodist Church in Belleville, IL and past member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance where she still supported and encouraged many missionaries abroad.

She was a member of The Daughters of American Revolution, and a founding member of the Belle Clair Soccer League. She was an avid supporter and member of numerous organizations, including AARP, Smithsonian, Defenders of Wildlife, United States Olympic Team and the USO.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Signal Hill United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army.

Visitation: Visitation from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Signal Hill United Methodist Church in Belleville, Illinois.

Other Services: Daughters of the American Revolution Service will be held at 12 noon at Signal Hill United Methodist Church.

Funeral: Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Signal Hill United Methodist Church, with Rev. Arthur Francis officiating. Private family interment at Mount Hope Cemetery, Belleville, IL.

Kyle and Stumbaugh Family you have my sincerest condolences for the passing of your mother. She was like a second grandmother to my children. she will be sorely missed.

I have only recently learned of Gloria’s passing. My sincerest sympathies to the Rudolph and Stumbaugh families.

I liked my dad’s cousin Gloria. She was living direct with quite a concern for others. I live in Michigan and would like to have spent more time with her but the miles were in the way. She’s an unforgetable person.
