George D. Clifton, 88, of Fairview Heights, IL, born Monday, June 4, 1934, in Fort Knox, KY, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023 in Fairview Heights, IL.
George worked as a Electrical Technician for McDonnell Douglas. He was a member of Christ Church in Fairview Heights IL, Christ Church Men’s Club, VFW, and IAMAW Retirement Club #837. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his:

- Parents: Leonard and Marie, nee Trimble, Clifton
- Brother: Leonard A Clifton
Surviving are his:
- Son: Eric (Julie) Clifton of Belleville, IL
- Daughter: Denise Ann Schlesinger of Poulsbo, WA

Visitation: Visitation from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Monday, February 20, 2023 at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, IL and from 10:30 am – 11:00 am Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Christ Church in Fairview Heights, IL.
Funeral: Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Christ Church, with Rev. Shane Bishop officiating. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

RIP George. Our Christ Church Men’s group gathering as well as our annual golfing outing will be missing it’s staple and encouraging mentor….I will miss your candid stories of growing up as a young boy, and of your father, your days in the Navy, and not to forget to mention the devotional tributes you so eloquently offered the group.

Will always remember the trip you my dad and I took to Tennessee to visit your cousins you had never met. We learned so much about our Vlifton history and you loved listening to Bill talk about the old times of the area. I know you will be missed by all who knew you. Rest in the arms of God.
