Felicity Ann Rixmann

December 5th 1934 – January 19th 2024

Born to Victor and Iris East in Dartford, Kent, United Kingdom, Felicity Rixmann left this world on January 19th 2024 at the Mercy Rehab and Care Center in Swansea Illinois.

She lived in Kent during the London Blitz of WWII. As a young adult she worked for Kodak in their flagship shop in Regents Street. While there she developed a taste for theatre and appeared in plays in the Westend. She met Cyril ‘Nick’ Nicholson at Kodak and they were married in 1955. As their family grew to six children they settled in Amersham, a western suburb of London. Felicity met Amos Rixmann of Nashville Illinois when he was in Amersham on business. They moved to Denver Colorado in December of 1975. There she worked as a bookkeeper for a construction firm.

Felicity and Amos were married in Denver on July 7th of 1976 but moved to Nashville Illinois when Amos’s father retired from farming in the summer of 1979. It was tough to start out farming in the early 1980s so Felicity trained as a nurse and obtained her RN from Kaskaskia College in May of 1983. She worked as a paediatric psych nurse in Centralia Illinois and as a geriatric Nurse at Friendship Manor in Nashville Il.

Amos died June 24 1999 and Felicity stayed on the farm for a further four years before moving to Nashville Il. in March of 2003. She was a positive member of Friends of the Library, Home Extension and Warped and Twisted Weaving and knitting group. She developed her gardening skills through the Master Gardeners Program and wrote articles for the Nashville News. Her home and garden became her pride and joy.

In addition to the above mentioned interest She took great joy from Sewing and quilting. She was an avid reader of many genres and could quote Shakespeare and Gilbert and Sullivan till she was blue in the face. Felicity had a great interest in travel and always had a bag packed ready for the next adventure whether it was to Europe, Asia or The Antipodes.

She will be remembered for her warm and outgoing personality, always one to never know a stranger, just a friend she hadn’t met yet.

Memorials: Memorials can be made to The Friends the Library-Nashville IL.

Services: Memorial service will be held in late May at the Nashville UCC Church and the cremains will be interred at North Prairie cemetery, Hoyleton Il. and in the UK.
