Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. Dot was a great friend and we all loved her. She sang with me in. the choir at Faith Family Church. She will be greatly missed. I want to tell Dot that I am singing a song for her.

Dear Howard family, I had the pleasure of being Dorothy’s optometrist for many years. We had so many wonderful conversations over those years. Dorothy was one of the sweetest and most kind people I have ever met. I am sorry for your loss.

The Tonies family sends our deepest sympathies and prayers to all of you at this time.

I remember fondly and with great happiness the many times that our two large families gathered together; times in particular at your home in Belleville- up on the hill- and how we always felt and knew that we were most welcome in my Godparents’, Dorothy and Hubie’s, home.

I regret that the last time I visited with Dorothy was with my Mom in 2015 or 2016. As you know, Dorothy and my Mom were life long friends- going back to East Saint Louis.

The next time I attend a baseball game, I am going to sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” in honor of Dorothy; I know she, Tom, and Hubie will be singing too!?

Love,
Patrick Tonies

I loved Dot so much and will dearly miss her. We met in Yoga and Ti Chi classes and she was an avid participant until her
fall. She had us all over to her home for lunch parties after class. She was always up for a road trip and was a great driver.
I visited her often at Cedarhurst and she was well loved by residents and staff, always participating in events and playing games -she always beat me. Her optimism was inspiring. She battled her disease fearlessly. She took boxing class! I will miss her.

Dot, may your rest in peace. We had a wonderful time in the choir – and now I imagine that you are singing, “Upper yonder”!
