Doris E. Austin, 94, of Washington, D.C., born Friday, November 15, 1929, in East St. Louis, IL and long time resident of Signal Hill, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024 at The Atrium of Belleville, in Belleville, IL.
Doris worked for the Department of State for 38 years. She was a member of The United Church in Washington, DC. She was a 1951 Graduate of Washington University, St. Louis, MO, Member of Alpha Chi Omega & Phi Beta Kappa Sorority. Doris was a Life Member of Belleville Animal Humane Society and a Life member of the IL State Historical Society. She never forgot her pet dog, Mickey.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Belleville Area Humane Society.
Funeral: Private family interment at Valhalla Gardens Cemetery in Belleville, IL.

Doris and her parents were our neighbors. For many years, We saw her when she was in town and kept in touch through Christmas cards. She was an interesting person and we have missed seeing her the past few years. We are sorry to hear of her passing.

Doris (and her mother, for a short while) was my neighbor at Potomac Plaza Apartments for many years in DC. While I missed her when she moved back to Illinois, I was very glad she was able to move nearer to her childhood home.
