Donald R. Shoe, 83, of Belleville, IL, born Friday, August 15, 1941, in Bellefontaine, OH, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.
Don worked as a District Manager for Meldisco Shoe Company for 35 years. He was a member of Westview Baptist Church in Swansea IL where he served as Deacon, Trustee, and Custodian (after retirement). He volunteered at the Community Interfaith Food Pantry for many years, he was a member of M.E.B.A. (Metro East Baptist Association) Disaster Relief Team, and a proud U.S. Air Force veteran. He had a servant’s heart. After retirement he traveled all over the country for many years helping others after natural disasters, cutting down trees and clearing debris with the Disaster Relief Team. He loved to fish, work in his woodshop, taking care of his rosebushes and helping others when needed.
He was preceded in death by his:
- Parents, Raymond P. and Mildred F., nee Byler, Shoe
- Grandson, Zacharie Antry
- Brother/sister-in-law, Robert P. (Mary Ann) Shoe
Surviving to cherish his memory are his:
- Loving wife of nearly 60 years, Bobbie J. Shoe, nee Martin, of Belleville, IL

- Donna R. (Jill Beauchamp) Stout
- Deborah A. (Charles) Antry
- Brothers:
- John R. (Ruth Ann) Shoe of OH
- James R. Shoe of OH
- Grandchildren:
- Kayla (Jordan) Wolf
- Jessica (Jim Combs) Stout
- Jacob Stout
- Faith Antry
- Great grandchildren:
- Silas Wolf
- Lily Combs
- Many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
Memorials: Memorials may be made to Westview Baptist Church or to the donor’s choice.
Visitation: Visitation from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Illinois.
Funeral: Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Kurrus Funeral Home, with Pastors Dave Ratcliff and Greg Sutter officiating. Interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO at a later date.

Don was a cheerful guy. Always ready to help a need. He was a wonderful Christian witness. He will be missed. My deepest sympathy to Bobbie and family.
I’m so sorry Donna & family. He sounds like a wonderful man. I’m sorry I can’t make it to the wake or interment. I will be there with you in spirit.
Don was very nice always busy at the church, although since I work on Sundays, he always asked Dale about me and I was happy to talk with him when I was able to get to church. He was always helpful and concerned about others and loved his chick-fil-a

Don was truly a great and dearly cherished friend. I enjoyed seeing him and his wife at church often. There was not a time when he did not tease me or anyone else. He was the kindest man you could ever get to meet. His westview baptist church family will miss him very much. My sincerest condolences and prayers go out to the family and friends 🙏🙏🙏
