Colleen M. McDaniel, nee Halloran, 65, of Belleville, IL, born Thursday, November 27, 1958, in East St. Louis, IL, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.

Colleen’s family was her everything. Kevin was the love of her life from the moment they started dating in high school, and she was so proud of their 44 years of marriage. Their children, Patrick, Kelly, and Katie, were Colleen’s best friends; there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them, and when she became a grandma to her four beautiful grandkids, that only became stronger. Colleen’s brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews felt this too: she was at every birthday party, sporting event, or get-together she was invited to, and if anyone was ever going through a hard time, she was the first to ask how she could help.

Colleen will be remembered as one of the most giving, selfless, and patient people around. If there was a party, you didn’t have to ask Colleen to bring something; she volunteered or would just show up with food in hand, and she always ensured that things got cleaned up and put away properly. Colleen didn’t just put up with Kevin’s antics (“I brought home another puppy!” “Let’s buy a farm!”); she ensured that whatever transpired did so smoothly, successfully, and with all the details well thought out. She was there for anyone who needed her, and the only condition was that you provide her with either a Busch Light or a hot pot of coffee.

Colleen will also be remembered as someone who loved to have a good time. Summers were for vacations to Gulf Shores or long pool days with family and friends, and in the winter, she loved a good Hallmark movie marathon. Colleen loved a clean house, and her housekeeping skills would put anyone else’s to shame. She had a tight-knit group of friends that she went out with regularly, and when her weekends weren’t occupied by something else, she could be found down at the farm with Kevin.

Colleen lived a life that was full of family, friendship, and fun, and we know she would want us to all find that same happiness while we have the chance. We will all miss Colleen dearly, but the memories of her smile and infectious laugh will be with us always.
