Carolyn “Carol” Frances Armes, nee Payne, 81, of Granite City, IL, born Monday, September 25, 1939, in Louisville, KY, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020 at her residence.
Carol was a member of MCC of Greater St. Louis.
She was preceded in death by her:
- Parents: Marshall and Frances, nee Slusser, Payne
- Brother: Marshall Payne, Jr.
- Sister: Marcia West

- Mary Lou (Bob) Barrow of St. Ann, MO
- Nellie Cook of St. Clair, MO
- Brother-in-law, Bob West of St. Charles, MO
- 17 grandchildren
- Caregiver, Cara (Stephanie) Freeman
Funeral: Due to Covid restrictions, private funeral services will be held with interment at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.

Mommy, Marmy, Jose, I wasn’t ready, but you were 🙁 We had not laughed enough, or played enough or shown our love enough!! I know how much we were alike in those anal ways. You taught me! lol So many things we were wanting to do!
I love you and will miss you til we meet again in the Kingdom of Heaven. We will pick it up there <3
I am so sorry Aunt Barb, She is your heart. I pray you will find Peace during this time of need, Continued prayers from all of us!

I always admired your mother’s caring and selfless nature. She was a true friend and someone who was always a pleasure to have around! She will be truly missed by many!

My grandma was my world, she always put a smile on anyone’s face. She was the sweetest person I know and she was like a third mom to me. My son loved her and she will be always loved and cherished by our family. There will never be anyone who can take her place and I know she will protect us all and watch over us all in heaven. They gained the most beautiful angel. I love you grandma❤️

Dad and I share your grief
Aunt Carol always brought a energy and could light up a room.
She would always tell me she was my favorite aunt?
I know your heartache and have felt your loss
She will always be here
You may smell her perfume in a mall
A dish she cooked for you as a kid
A movie or song that she liked and a flood of joy and sadness at the same time will fill that loss
She at peace and with those that passed before her
Mom is hugging her singing those hymns they sang as kids

My memories of my Aunt Carol ❤️ her sense of humor, her laugh, her borrowing my black sequined platforms. Yes and she rocked them… Our love for all God’s creatures, and our love of family, we shared. Be strong Aunt Barb, Love you so
