My heart hurts for the family, the young ones that learned from him, Carl was truly one of a kind, he loved his family and set the example for all of them. He became father to the sons and daughters of his siblings as they passed, a man of faith, he lived the life. Lois we love you beyond words, you have lost your partner, but heaven has gained an angel. You and Carl set an example for all of us in your devotion and love for one another. Thank God for eternal life, you will be together again.❤

Hi Family, Bittersweet. So happy he is with Jesus and receiving his reward that he worked hard for. Always loved being around him at Thomas Ave. He always had a smile and hug when I walked up.I will never forget him his kindness. My condolences to you all. Love Vicki

There are a few men from my childhood memories that I would consider good role models. As I think back on those memories I would consider Carl a great role model. He always was interested in what we were doing. You could even share with him what kind of trouble you were getting into. His laugh was ornerier than the stories that we would share with him. His faith in God was the biggest reason I think for having time for us that and to share fishing stories. Now he for sure is with one of the all time greatest fishermen. Thanks to the family for sharing him with us and may you find peace in knowing that he is on calm waters.

Our hearts are saddened by the passing of a wonderful man. Carl was truly one of the great ones. Always there to help my Mother, Ethel, his neighbor and friend. He’s with her now and I know they are talking about fishing times, They both loved so much.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Lois and her family.

Carl McPeek was truly one of the finest men that I have ever known. He was my mother’s, Ethel Lauffer’, next door neighbor for over 40 years. Carl was always the first to come to her aid especially in her later years when she was somewhat compromised. He was a prince of a man and not only always offered to help my Mom but would be first to help anyone in the neighborhood who needed any kind of assistance. I never heard Carl say a bad word about anyone. He was a true Christian Man who not only talked the talk but also walked the walk. Carl was a true gentlemen in every sense of the word and will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him as my family did. Our deepest sympathy’s and condolences go out to Lois and the entire family.

I got to know uncle Carl a little better before my dad got sick. Breakfast at Bob Evans and pizza at Pasquale’s in Westerville. After my dad passed, he was always available to have lunch with us kids here in Columbus.

My mom is right saying he stepped-in and became a father figure to all of us as our fathers had passed, uncle Freddie and uncle Roger. I’ve missed our lunches and hearing stories, mostly how his brothers were so ornery!

Always strong, just like the McPeek men were, always laughing with a story in mind. I’m a better man because of my father and my uncle’s example of taking care of family, amazing work ethic and impeccable promptness… that’s a private family joke.

Uncle Carl will be missed. God bless him, Aunt Lois and the family.

My sympathy and condolence to Lois and the McPeek family. Carl was one of a kind and he will be missed so very much. A gentle, loving man who always watched over me and my grandmother, Ethel Lauffer. He was the best neighbor and friend one could ask for and I wish I could be there to say my goodbyes. I will always remember him taking care of his lovely back yard and sitting on his front porch as the “Sheriff” of Kenlawn street. God bless him.

So sorry to hear of Carl’s passing. My kids and I lived next door to him for 6 years on Kenlawn in Columbus. He was a great human being and awesome neighbor! I still have his flag he gave me when he sold his house in Columbus and moved. Rest easy now brother. The rest of us have the watch.
