Brian D. Spacher, II, 46, of Freeburg, IL, born in Biloxi, MS, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2026, at his residence.
Brian graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education. He was a tenured teacher and worked for East St. Louis Senior High School, as a PE, Health and Drivers’ Education teacher. Brian was a dedicated teacher and loved all his students. He also loved coaching track for Lincoln Middle School and was very proud of his coaching records.
Brian was extremely proud of his son, Landon and loved every minute they spent together. Brian especially loved watching Landon play football and never missed a game. Brian also enjoyed golfing with his father on their Tuesday night golf league. He was a true sports fan, an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed watching the games with his family and friends.

Visitation: Visitation from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 11 N. Alton, Freeburg, IL.
Mass: Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday August 25, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, with Father Andy Knopik officiating. Private family interment will follow at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.

Landon, Brian, Geralyn and Sue, please accept condolences and our deepest sympathy for your tragic loss. The suddenness of this loss seems to exaggerate the reality that Brian will no longer be a part of your day to day activities and family gatherings. I am deeply saddened by the passing of a dear teacher whom I was fortunate enough to call my friend. My thoughts and prayers are with his mother and father and loved ones…Brian and I would occasionally chat through the years, and he spoke so fondly of his family… I could tell he was close to them- which is admirable.
He always spoke so proudly of his son, Landon, who was truly the apple of his eye. He was so incredibly proud him- the athlete he is and of his school accomplishments, and the man that he is becoming.
When you work alongside someone for many years, that person becomes more than a coworker—they become family. It is during lunches, conversations, and ordinary moments that you truly get to know one another. If you are fortunate, you work beside teachers who genuinely support and encourage you, just as you support and encourage them. He was that kind of person. We had a partnership with many of our kids- ones that needed that extra support.
Brian helped me through some difficult times, and I felt that I was often that buddy for him. To vent, to listen, to sometimes give advice… and to laugh with often…😍
It simply does not seem real that someone so young could be taken from us. I pray that our Lord wraps His loving arms around him and brings comfort and strength to everyone who loved him.
Rest in peace, dear friend. You will be deeply missed. 😢
