Mary C. Sams, nee Royer, 82, of Caseyville, Il, born Monday, May 28, 1928, in East St. Louis, IL, died Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Freeburg Care Center in Freeburg, IL.

Mrs. Sams retired as a Telephone Operator for Illinois Bell. She was a member of Southern IL Doll Club, Telephone Pioneers and Women of the Moose of Collinsville.

She was preceded in death by her:

  • Husband: James S. Sams Sr.
  • Parents: Jacob C. and Marie E., nee Murphy Royer
  • Grandson: Scott Edwards

Surviving are her:

  • Daughter: Linda (James) Johnson of Freeburg, IL
  • Son: James S. Sams Jr. of Caseyville, IL
  • Sister: Eileen Prosise of Pocahontas, IL

Visitation: Friends may call from 4-8 P.M., Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Kurrus Funeral Home, Belleville, Illinois.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Kurrus Funeral Home, with Father Carlos Bohorquez officiating. Private interment will take place at Lake View Memorial Gardens.
