James Osser Fishbein

James Osser Fishbein, 79, of Belleville, Illinois, born Wednesday, May 10, 1933, in East Saint Louis, IL, died Thursday, June 14, 2012 at his residence in Belleville, Illinois.

Mr. Fishbein served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from Nixon & Company, St. Louis, MO as a professional adjuster. An alumni of East St. Louis Senior High School, (Class of 1950) he remained active in their annual events. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 1739, American Legion Post 1255, Korean War Veterans Association, St. Clair Country Club, Life Member of the VFW National Home for Children and a former member of Professional Bowlers Association. James liked playing cards and was a baseball Cardinals fan. Having been an avid golfer, he continued his love of the fame by being a spectator and fan and keeping track and and cheering on special local golfers.

He was preceded in death by his:

  • Parents: Harry and Margaret nee Mohlenbrock Fishbein                                                 
  • Sister:  Tobie E. Tucker

Surviving are his:

  • Brother: George D. (Carol) Fishbein of Decatur, IL                         
  • Special Lady Friend: Madeleine Fiudo of Caseyville, IL

Memorials:  Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.

Visitation:  Friends may call from  6-8 p.m., Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Kurrus Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  A private funeral service will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

    So sorry to hear about the passing of another great man. Jim was always kind and courteous with a great sense of humor. The last time I saw him in Springfield was one of the most memorable. I am happy to know that he will rest at Jefferson Barracks with all the other heroes.
