Sylvester J. "Dick" Keck

Sylvester J. "Dick" Keck, 91, of Belleville, IL, born Thursday, December 19, 1918, in Millstadt, Illinois, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Sycamore Village Assisted Living in Swansea, IL.

Mr. Keck worked for teamsters Local 50 as a truck driver for Swift and Company and Pennsylvania Central Railroad. He was a member of Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene in Belleville, IL, East Lodge #504 AF&AM, Scottish Rite, Ainad Shrine, Director's Staff, Rob Morris #98 O.E.S., a charter member of VFW of Millstadt, Moose Lodge #1221 of Swansea, American Legion Post 1255 and a US WWII Army Veteran.

He was preceded in death by:

  • Son: Sylvan Keck
  • Parents: Walter W. and Emma nee Scharf Keck
  • Brother: Lilbert Keck
  • Sister: Verna Vogt
  • Grandson: Dick A. Keck

Surviving are his:

  • Wife: Pearl nee Vogt Keck
  • Son: Dennis R. (Margie) Keck of Belleville, IL
  • Granddaughter: Tonya (Lance) Krug
  • Step-Granddaughter: Diana (Robert) Steinkamp
  • Great Grandchildren: Megan and Jordan Krug
  • Step Great Grandchildren: Christopher and Kerri Steinkamp

Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene or Shriners Hospital for Children. 

Visitation: Friends may call from 4-8 P.M., Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the Kurrus Funeral Home, Belleville, IL. There will be a 7:30pm Masonic Service at the funeral home.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Monday, December 20, 2010 at Kurrus Funeral Home, with Rev. Russell Brewer officiating. Interment will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.

    I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I wss one of the caretakers at Sycamore Village. I will always remember Dick. He was one of the most kindest person I've ever known, as is Pearl. I will always remember the last thing he said to me every night as I said goodnight to him. "God bless you." My prayers are with Pearl and Dennis and the family at this difficult time.
