Margaret A. Tockstein

Margaret A.  Tockstein, nee Jones, 74, of Belleville, IL, born Tuesday, September 22, 1936, in East St. Louis, IL, died Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Rosewood Care Center in Swansea, IL.

Mrs. Tockstein graduated from the St. Louis Institute of Music, Academic work from Washington University in 1959. She worked as a Vocal Teacher for Cahokia Grade School for 37 years. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church of Belleville, IL Jobs Daughters, and American Federation of Teachers.

She was preceded in death by her:

  • Parents: Edward B.and  Hazel B. nee Edwards, Jones

Surviving are her:

  • Husband: Alvin O. "Al" Tockstein of Belleville, IL
  • Son: Michael E. (Nancy) Tockstein of Belleville, IL
  • Granddaughter: Sarah N. Tockstein

Visitation:  Friends may call from  4-8pm on Friday June 3, 2011 at the Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  Graveside services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Mt. Zion, MO.

    I knew Mrs. Tockstein briefly. I subbed for her at Huffman School. She retired shortly after I began in the district. I do know she loved her students and watching how they responded to the world of music.
