Norman D. Wright

Norman D. Wright, 82, of Swansea, IL, born Wednesday, October 10, 1928, in Belleville, IL, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.

Mr. Wright was a retired machinist for the St. Louis Post Dispatch and an inventor and patent holder in the printing industry. He was a member of St. Clair Lodge #24 AF & AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Ainad Shrine (Patrol), Machinist Local and Belleville Elks Lodge #481. He was a U.S. Coast Guard Korean War veteran, a trustee for Eastside Fire Department, Belleville Exchange, a St. Clair County Precinct Committeeman and past president of Boulder Lake Association. He loved gardening, fishing and his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by:

  • Step-mother: Emily nee Schwagel Wright
  • Granddaughter: Morgan A. Wright

Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4-8 P.M., Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Kurrus Funeral Home, Belleville, IL. There will be a Masonic Lodge service at 7:30pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Friday, April 15, 2011 at Kurrus Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Larry Patton officiating. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
