Leah J. Moore

Leah J. Moore, nee Oliver, 88, of Shorewood, Illinois, died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital  in Joliet, IL.
Leah was born in Eddyville, KY on April 14, 1923, one of 5 children. She moved to East St. Louis IL in 1941 and worked in the lab at Aluminum Ore (Alcoa) during WWII. She later had a career as an assistant handbag buyer with Stix, Baer, & Fuller in St Louis. She married Leonard D. Moore in 1947 and was happily married for 63 years until his death in Nov, 2010. They moved to Fairview Heights in 1957, and lived there until 2006 when they moved to Shorewood, IL. Leah's love of reading led her to work to help establish a library in Fairview Heights. In addition to books she loved gardening, jewelry, cooking great meals, travel and spending time with her family. She was the heart of her family and will be missed greatly.

Visitation:  Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00pm, Monday, January 30, 2012 at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Illinois.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 31, 2012  at Kurrus Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Doug Stewart officiating  Interment will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Illinois.
