Cecelia Soffranko

Cecelia Soffranko, nee Murian, 94, of Fairfax, VA, born Saturday, August 19, 1916, in East Saint Louis, IL, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Sunrise Assisted Living at Fairoaks in Fairfax, VA.

Mrs. Soffranko was a graduate of East St. Louis High School and lived in the Metro East Area for over 85 years before relocating to be near her daughter in Farifax, VA. She was a member of First Methodist Church of East St. Louis, Edgemont Bible Church, and St. Matthew United Methodist Church Belleville, IL, United Methodist Women and a lifelong Sunday school teacher.

She was preceded in death by her:

  • Husband: Joseph Soffranko
  • Parents: Richard and Minnie nee Bryant Murian
  • Brother: Richard Murian

Surviving are her:

  • Daughter: Linda (Tom) Hale of Fairfax, VA
  • Nephew: Richard Murian of Scottdale, AZ
  • Niece: Pamela J. Murian of White House, TN
  • Great-Niece & Nephews
    • Jennifer Murian of Los Angeles, CA
    • Ronald Miller of Nashville, TN
    • David Miller of Lexington, KY

Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Soffranko-Hale Endowed Scholarship Fund at Asbury College, Wilmore, KY 40390.

Visitation: Friends may call from 2:00 - 3:00pm, Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, IL.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Kurrus Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Larry Patton officiating. Private interment will be held at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
