Rev. Robert Walter Horn
Rev. Robert Walter Horn, 79, of Belleville, IL, born Friday, May 9, 1930, in Pekin, IL, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010, peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
He was a member of the 44th Division of the Illinois National Guard, which was activated to service in Korea in 1952. He served in Seoul Korea in a MP unit.
He was a graduate of the University of Iowa, BA (1958), and the American Baptist Seminary of the West, Master of Divinity, Berkeley, CA (1967). He received an honorary PHD of Humanities, Daniel Gale Williams University, Chicago, IL, 1976.
Robert became an A.C. P. E. full supervisor in 1969. He received the following awards and certificates of recognition for his work in various areas of his professional career: Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, certified supervisor 1970, American Protestant Correctional Chaplains Association Inc (1977), American Baptist Outstanding Chaplain Pastoral Counselor Award (1977), ISAC Anton Boyson Award (2000), Association for Clinical Education Inc., supervisor emeritus, Rotary Foundation Paul Harris Fellow (2010), Swansea Rotary Club.
Rev. Horn served as pastor at the following towns and churches, Fremont, IA, Campbellsport, WI, Warrens, WI, Arbuckle, CA, Bismarck ND, St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Belleville, IL and Immanuel United Church of Christ in E. St. Louis, IL.
Rev. Horn served as chaplain at Mandan Industrial School in Mandan, ND. He was a chaplain educator at "The Depot" University of Chicago, Director of Chaplaincy Services at Illinois Department of Corrections in Springfield and Hillsboro, IL, Chaplain Educator at Missouri State Hospital in St. Louis, MO, Chaplain Educator at Deaconess/Forest Park Hospital in St. Louis, MO and Chaplain Educator at Alexian Brothers Facilities in St. Louis, MO.
He was an avid sailor, hunter, fisherman and poker player.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorials in Rev. Horn's name may be made to the Immanual United Church of Christ or St. Paul United Church of Christ Fine Arts.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4-8 pm., Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Immanual United Church of Christ in East St. Louis, IL and 10:30-11:00 am, Monday, May 3, 2010 at the church.
Funeral: Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, May 3, 2010 at Immanuel United Church of Christ. There will be a private family interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO with full military honors.
