Lee E. Monroe Jnr., 81, of Belleville, Illinois, born Saturday, August 10, 1929, in St. Louis, MO, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Monroe was a retired History and Political Science teacher for 35 years. He taught for 21 years at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, MO. He was a member of Community Bible Church, Model Railroad Club, Durango, Colorado Barbershop Singers, and loved to travel.
He was preceded in death by his:

- Spouse: Sylvia Monroe of Belleville, IL
- Children
- Kevin (Jennifer) Monroe of Belleville, IL
- Ernest (Cynthia) Monroe of Metamora, MI
- Denise (Daniel) Dundon of Westminster, CO
- 10 Grandchildren
- 1 Great Granddaughter

Visitation: Friends may call from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Illinois.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Kurrus Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Rogier officiating. Interment will follow at Green Mount Protestant Cemetery, Belleville, IL.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Monroe. I had him as an instructor at Three Rivers in 1970-1972. He instilled confidence in me which helped through the rest of my schooling and career. Great teacher and wonderful man.

Very sorry to hear the passing of Mr. Monroe. I was a student of his in the 1970's and knew his family well. He was certainly an inspiration to me both in and out of the classroom.
