Henry J. "Hank" Schuessler

Henry J. "Hank" Schuessler, 95, of Belleville, IL, born Thursday, April 6, 1916, in Mascoutah, IL, died Sunday, May 1, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville.

Mr. Schuessler was the Owner of Hank's Auto Repair. He was a member of St. Clair Lodge 24 AF & AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Ainad Shrine, Past President of the Independent Garage Owners, Past Worthy Patron of Chapter #423 O.E.S. and Past Sponsor of the Gear Jammers (young people's auto club).  He was an avid bowler and golfer and served in the U.S. Army during WWII and received the Bronze Star for bravery.

He was preceded in death by his:

  • Brother: William Schuessler
  • Step-Son: David Fitzgerald

Surviving are his:

  • Wife: Alice J. nee Hanfelder, Schuessler
  • Daughter: Elaine Schuessler of Belleville, IL
  • Step-Children
    • Diane (John) Kaicher of Springfield, MO
    • Rick (Helen) Fitzgerald of Jacksonville, FL
    • Ron Fitzgerald of Hoyleton, IL

Memorials: Memorials may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church Building Fund or Belleville Humane Society.

Visitation:  Friends may call from 3-8 pm, Thursday, May 5, 2011 with a 7:00pm Masonic Service at the Kurrus Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Friday, May 6, 2011 at Kurrus Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
